Providing companionship and personal care services for New Jersey seniors residing in nursing homes – serving Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Somerset and Union Counties.
Nursing homes are meant for the patient that cannot manage alone and needs care that an institution would provide long term. They meet long term ongoing custodial care needs which cannot be provided in the hospital since they require them on an indefinite basis.
Patient care includes all the activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting. Meals are taken care of by the facility and help with feeding is provided if necessary. Patients are in rooms and not private units. Nursing homes are staffed by nursing aides, and certified nurses and doctors make visits and there is 24-hour coverage with respect to any medical issues that may arise. Medication is disbursed by the nursing staff. Residents have access to rehabilitation specialists and can receive physical, occupational and speech therapy as prescribed. Some nursing homes have memory units for an additional facet of care for their dementia patients. There is also a recreational director to help schedule activities appropriate to the needs and abilities of the residents. Sometimes, a couple may be allowed to live together in the nursing home.
Nursing homes are not only for the elderly. They can service anyone at any age who meets their criteria for long term care. Again, patient care includes all the activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting. Meals are taken care of by the facility and help with feeding is provided if necessary. This personal care is handled by non-medical staff.
