It is that time of year again when we set aside to time to honor and appreciate family caregivers. They are the backbone of homecare in this country with more than half of the elderly and disabled depending on them for care. These caregivers are too often overlooked and taken for granted. We at David York Agency are proud to honor the more than the 15 million Americans who care for precious friends and beloved family members. Here is a FREE Resources List for Caregivers of Seniors.

See our newest helpful blog post, RELATIVES ARE CAREGIVERS TODAY. It points out some interesting findings from the later caregiver study done. Since we have so very many blog posts on caregiving from our years of experience and writing, it is worthwhile to search our site for caregiver posts. Click on the titles that pique your interest. As always, I am here to answer any and all questions that you may have. I welcome comments, feedback, and innovative new ideas!
My goal is to help all caregivers, paid and unpaid, be the very best that they can be. To that end, we are including our latest free download. Resources for Caregivers where you can find dozens of leads to help care recipients and caregivers get all the help they need.
Caregiving is one of the toughest jobs there is. Caregivers experience incredible stress and sacrifice as they carry out their caregiving duties — often on a 24/7 basis. Unfortunately, caregivers themselves are not always good at noticing this—or admitting it. Even when they are aware, they often hide it in order to be strong for their loved ones. It is up to those around them to look for signs of strain.
Sources of Help
Fortunately, there are resources, public and private, to help. The Administration for Communal Living (ACL) out of the Health and Human Services Department has information to support caregivers in their challenging and important work. There is also the New York City Department of Aging to turn to for help and referrals. You should also check out the caregiving pages at the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) website.
Always here to help!
