Millions of older adults experience falls so severe that they need to visit the emergency room – and thousands are fatal. It is critical for older adults and their families to take precautions to prevent falls and avoid injuries. The following are 10 tips for preventing falls in the elderly.
There are physical & environmental
causes to consider….
- Regular exercise.
- Move slowly.
- Seek medical care for dizziness.
- Review your medications.
- Avoid clutter.
- Be sure your home is well-lit.
- Install grab bars.
- Use a non-skid bath mat.
- Wear rubber-soled shoes.
- Avoid loose clothing.
